FILM CONSERVATORY
Junior interior designer with a passion for creativity and detail. In design, I most enjoy construction drawings and detailed renderings.
Pulling inspiration from history and communicating messages with materials and orientations that have a deeper meaning is my approach to design.
My goal is to apply my skills as a designer for inspiring others through beautiful spaces that meet and exceed the needs of their inhabitants. In a time like the 21st century, inspiration and security are valuable human experiences that are in high demand, and I intend to create these through my work.
THESIS
OPEN OCEAN STUDIOS
~ Film Conservatory
Open Ocean Studios will offer subsidized programs, affordable classes, and use of spaces and equipment to the underpriviledged communities of East Vancouver. The demographic targeted is the older side of Gen Z (approximately 13-23).
The facility will contain production offices, classrooms, acoustic film sets, photography and sound studios, as well as a café, a lounge, and a theatre (for a year end film festivals).
The leading goals of this facility are to cultivate knowledge sharing, provide opportunities, and offer experiential film education.
Utilizing scale, light, and line, I will form spaces that foster creativity and give the end user a sense of passion. Colossal art pieces inspired by film will mount tall corridor walls, and black wainscoting on matte black walls will stretch the scale of communal lounge areas. The floor plan will somewhat resemble streets and alleyways, easy to navigate by means of wayfinding lines and light. Bri
Comprehensive, linear floor plan. The simplicity of the layout is necessary to allow the users to move through the space with ease and confidence. Sound proofed walls will surround spaces like the sound stage, workshop, and theatre.
The most colourful, fantastical, and creative ceiling plan I have done so far! Neon lighting inspired by city lights at night add to the feeling of creativity. Varying levels of ceiling heights create more surfaces for colour to bounce off of.
The lighting and materials come together to inspire film students to step outside of the box. Concrete panels are trimmed in bright yellow to look like city sidewalks or subway tunnels.
